Well, I was looking for a board game idea and came across this giant flowchart to decide the initial step on your board game. Board games are still being played all around the world by a very large number of people and can still be targeted for publishing. It however, differs depending on the country. In India, for instance, one may find it difficult to publish a newly designed or modified (provided that the original creators of the game allow such action) board game.
Post publishing, depending on the geographical region, the market plays a major role in the revenue. If you are one of those with an idea or inspiration to design or publish a board game, keep these aspects in mind before getting started. This caution message here ain't mean no negative advice. You are actually being motivated to take up your game in a great way. You may not want to design a board game with characters or creators and publish it in a region where the people hate such kind of characters, gameplay or anything.
